About me
Emma Bergmans is a Senior Policy & Advocacy Advisor at Free Press Unlimited, working on issues related to the legal intimidation of media workers, the importance of media in exile, and the safety of journalists.
Emma chairs the Dutch anti-SLAPP working group and recently published a research into the legal intimidation of media and journalists in the Netherlands: https://www.freepressunlimited.org/en/current/disproportionate-legal-pressure-dutch-journalism
Previously, Emma coordinated FPU's Safety & Emergency Assistance programme, providing rapid support to journalists worldwide facing a situation of distress and developing new interventions to improve the safety of journalists.
She holds a Master's degree in Conflict Studies & Human Rights and worked on the rights of refugees before joining Free Press Unlimited.
